During the summer of 2024, one particular morning, I was hands down on my knees, scrubbing a stain on the rug. I do not know where the stain came from, but I’m certain it’s from the children. So as I was thoroughly scrubbing, a question popped into my mind: ‘Why didn’t we just install hard floors?’
That thought did not leave me so quickly, and I know countless parents have been in my shoes. I began to dig down the rabbit hole of home flooring. The next weekend, I told Bob (my husband) that we had to do the flooring, and I was surprised that he had already been planning ahead. He wanted to surprise me.
So we checked different types of flooring and choosing one was somewhat confusing.
After exhausting all the options, we decided to go with Oak flooring. It was a tough choice, but I was happy I chose it. We chose it because it was trendy, but then we came to realize that it can handle almost every problem other flooring faces in family homes.
Here’s why Oak works so well for a family home:
My rug usually holds everything. Pet dander, muddy footprint, dust mites, spilled milk, and just about anything. Even vacuuming cannot do justice to it. I had to always scrub so hard to remove tough stains. Tile, on the other hand, would always make your feet cold. Not just that, it is too hard if my kids fall, they might get injured. Unless I add a run, but then I’m back to square one.
Why Oak Works So Well in a Family Home
Oak flooring solves every one of those problems, while still giving your house an aesthetic look. The older it gets, the better. Elegant and smooth with an oily surface. My kids don’t trip because it is not slippery. And no more daunting task of always scrubbing a tough stain.
I was glad Bob suggested that to me. We unanimously agreed to go with it. We had recommendations from a friend, so we consulted WFA for a quote, and then we hired them. Without mincing words, they were exceptional! I just love their stained Oak flooring in a special way, and I do not know why.
The flooring is just perfect for my family. Cleaning is easy; no hard stains can stay on the wood. Another good thing is that it is not slippery, so my children are safe from unnecessary falls. It keeps the feet warm, and that is an added bonus. Oak has a second life in it that most flooring simply doesn’t. One of the best investments we ever made.
As parents, we find new hacks to help keep our house running smoothly. Oiled Oak is an incredible flooring. It gives the house a new look that no one would have imagined.
